WELCOME FOR ROLL OUT OF SUPER FAST BROADBAND IN SOUTH WEST BEDFORDSHIRE

South West Bedfordshire MP Andrew Selous has welcomed BT’s announcement today that Leighton Buzzard will receive super fast broadband and called for Dunstable, Houghton Regis and the south Bedfordshire villages to receive the same service soon.

Andrew Selous said “I very much welcome BT’s announcement of fibre optic super fast broadband for Leighton Buzzard. It will help make the town more attractive for businesses to expand in and locate to. This is really important after the loss of Countrywide, another major employer from the town. Dunstable, Houghton Regis and the villages need this service too in order to boost economic development in their communities too.”

Super fast broadband enables speeds of up to 40 Mb/s to be achieved which means that for example, High definition (HD) films can be watched while complex graphics are being used at the same time. Music tracks can be downloaded in less than 5 seconds. Dunstable currently has a high speed copper service (ADSL2+) which allows speeds of 24 Mb/s.
