CUT BILLS, MOBILE OPERATORS URGED

The suggestion by a local resident whose 19 year old son is stuck in Spain because of the volcanic ash grounding flights has been taken up by the Conservative party nationally, after Andrew Selous passed the suggestion on to Conservative Campaign Headquarters.

Mobile phone operators have been asked to reduce mobile phone bills for Britons stranded abroad.

Theresa Villiers, Shadow Transport Secretary, said, "At a time of crisis people rely on their mobile to keep them in touch with their family and friends and find the latest information. As a further step to help stranded Britons the Conservative Party has initiated talks with mobile phone providers to see what can be done to help”.

"We are finding out what steps can be taken to adjust tariff structures and how the networks can be used to keep people abreast of the latest information”.
