South West Bedfordshire MP, Andrew Selous has welcomed reassurances from Amazon that they are directing HGV vehicles to use the Woodside link road rather than Luton Road. Amazon has sent updated guidance advice to drivers which includes a final warning to the drivers concerned, banning drivers from the site for a second breach and ultimately the removal of the carrier from the load tender process. Amazon have stated that they take their role in the community very seriously.
Andrew Selous said “I have campaigned on air quality issues for many years, including on the Health and Social Care Select Committee in Parliament, and the health and well-being of Luton Road residents is affected by the air pollution from constant HGV traffic. One of the reasons for the funding of the Woodside link road was to improve air quality in Dunstable and we do need local businesses to use the Woodside link road whenever possible in order to protect the health and well-being of local residents.”
