Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary of State James Brokenshire has announced an extra £2,345,341 for Central Bedfordshire to spend on adults and children's social care. Councils are being encouraged to use this money to ensure that adults' social care pressures do not create additional demand on the NHS as well as using it to improve the social care given to older people, people with disabilities and children. It is also intended that this money will alleviate winter pressures on the NHS.
South West Bedfordshire MP Andrew Selous said “I very much welcome this additional money for Central Bedfordshire. I know how hard our social care staff work locally to look after all those in our community who need care. It is good to see this greater join up between the work of social care and the NHS”.
