Figures released from the House of Commons’ Library show that the number of unemployed claimants in South West Bedfordshire in June 2018 was 595. This represents a rate of 1.0% of the economically active population aged 16-64. The total number of claimants is 25 lower than June 2017 and 30 lower than May 2018 and represents a 71% fall since June 2010.
Commenting on the figures South West Bedfordshire MP Andrew Selous said:
“I am delighted to see that more people locally now have the security of a monthly pay packet as they go out to work.
“I am also very pleased to learn that Satco Plastics Ltd, based in Dunstable, were featured in the London Stock Exchange Group’s flagship 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2018 and that local businesses, Peli BioThermal and FAI Auto Parts have won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise. It is businesses like these locally that are providing the extra jobs and opportunities for my constituents.”
