South West Bedfordshire MP, Andrew Selous, visited the Synergy LMS laundry on Dunstable's Woodside industrial estate last week. Synergy LMS launders about a third of all NHS laundry, providing a vital service for patients. 90% of hospitals would be forced to close after one day if they did not have a clean laundry supply.
Speaking after his visit, Andrew said
"I was delighted to visit this important local business last week. Like many businesses they are struggling with high energy costs, although they are making good progress towards their net zero targets. It is vital that we help businesses like this to have secure, affordable and green energy supplies for the future, and we should remember that no hospital could function without clean sheets, scrubs, and all the other laundry, which a hospital uses.”
I really appreciated meeting the staff to see the important work which they do every day, as well as trying my hand at some of the work they do. I will do everything that I can to help them with their energy issues. I am proud to have a Dunstable business which is so key to the successful functioning of the NHS. One of the many hospitals they look after is the Luton and Dunstable hospital, so many local people will have benefited from their excellent service."
