In a letter to South West Bedfordshire MP, Andrew Selous, Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group have confirmed that they will be providing a community phlebotomy service in Dunstable and Houghton Regis in October. Many residents of Dunstable, Houghton Regis and the surrounding villages have been significantly inconvenienced by the Luton and Dunstable Hospital moving its phlebotomy services over to the east of Luton to the Arndale Centre. Phlebotomy services will be provided from Monday to Friday split between the Dunstable Health Centre and the Houghton Regis Health Centre.
Andrew Selous said “I am delighted to learn of this news. Many constituents have written to me to complain about how much more difficult it was to get to the Arndale Centre than to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. Phlebotomy should be a local service provided where people live and it is excellent to see this service returning to Dunstable and Houghton Regis from the start of next month.”
