In May this year, the Government announced that it would look at restricting the use of glue traps. I welcome that the Government is supporting Jane Stevenson MP’s Private Members’ Bill to ban the use of glue traps for catching rodents. The Bill was introduced to Parliament on 16 June this year, and I am reassured that ministers will work with her as the Bill progresses through Parliament.
I know that trap operators already have a responsibility under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to act within the law to ensure that their activities do not cause unnecessary suffering. If you believe an individual is inflicting unnecessary suffering on animals, the matter should be reported to the police.
